Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code to provide that the
definition of "rescue vehicle" includes a vehicle designed,
configured, and equipped for the transportation of organs.

1 AN ACT to amend the Illinois Vehicle Code by changing
2 Section 1-224.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by
6 changing Section 1-224 as follows:
7 (625 ILCS 5/1-224) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 1-224)
8 Sec. 1-224. Rescue vehicle. Any publicly or privately
9 owned vehicle which is specifically designed, configured, and
10 equipped for the performance of access and extrication of
11 persons from hazardous or life-endangering situations, as
12 well as for the emergency transportation of persons who are
13 sick, injured, wounded or otherwise incapacitated or helpless
14 and the transportation of organs.
