1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The United Way of Elgin will celebrate its 75th
3 anniversary on October 8, 1998 at 6:30 p.m. at Grand Victoria
4 Casino; and
5 WHEREAS, During its 75 years, the United Way has raised
6 over $40 million in its annual community-wide campaigns; all
7 of these funds have been reinvested in the community to
8 provide health and human service programs to the citizens;
9 and
10 WHEREAS, Over 2,000 individuals from Elgin have served as
11 members of the Governing Board of the United Way of Elgin and
12 have contributed many thousands of hours of service to the
13 United Way and to the City of Elgin; and
14 WHEREAS, More than 45,000 volunteers have been involved
15 in one way or another in the United Way, and more than
16 1,641,750 clients have received services; and
17 WHEREAS, The United Way of Elgin has been an example of
18 neighbor helping neighbor, a community taking care of itself;
19 therefore, be it
20 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
21 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
22 congratulate the United Way of Elgin for its 75 years of
23 service and take this opportunity to extend our best wishes
24 for the future; and be it further
25 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
26 presented to United Way of Elgin.
