1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are happy to wish Vernon L. "Hans" Bergman of
4 Palatine, Illinois a happy 80th birthday; and
5 WHEREAS, Vernon Bergman was born in unincorporated
6 Palatine Township on March 31, 1918; his parents were Mr. and
7 Mrs. Daniel H. Bergman Jr., of the Highland Dairy Farm; Mr.
8 Bergman was educated in the Palatine public schools and was a
9 1935 graduate of Palatine Township High School; he served in
10 the United States Army Air Corps during World War II and upon
11 his return from the service returned to farming, eventually
12 branching out into the landscaping and trucking business in
13 1950; Mr. Bergman is currently active in the operation of
14 Bergman Trucking Co. in Palatine, Illinois; and
15 WHEREAS, Mr. Bergman is an active Republican, and in 1957
16 he was elected to serve as Palatine Township Highway
17 Commissioner and was later re-elected three times; for
18 sixteen years he served as a volunteer fireman in the
19 Palatine Fire Department; he is a member of the Eagles Lodge
20 (Elgin) and the Elks Club (Arlington Heights); in the winter
21 months, Mr. Bergman enjoys vactioning at his Florida condo;
22 and
23 WHEREAS, Vernon L. Bergman is married to Marion Louise
24 Luerssen of Barrington Township; he is father of Daniel Barry
25 Bergman, Robert Lee Bergman, Thomas Vernon Bergman, and John
26 Henry Bergman; he is the grandfather of twelve grandchildren
27 and the great-grandfather of three great-grandchildren;
28 therefore, be it
29 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
30 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
31 honor Vernon L. "Hans" Bergman on the occasion of his 80th
32 birthday celebration; and be it further

2 presented to Vernon L. Bergman.
