1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that May 6, 1998 is
3 Phi Theta Kappa All-Illinois Academic Team Recognition Day;
4 and
5 WHEREAS, Maria Verona Garcia of Palatine is being honored
6 for outstanding achievement in leadership and service; and
7 WHEREAS, Maria Verona Garcia worked her way through high
8 school, earning her G.E.D,, and two years of college,
9 attending Harper College to earn an Associate of Science
10 Degree; and
11 WHEREAS, She now attends Harper College full time and
12 plans to attend a four-year college to earn a Bachelor's
13 Degree; and
14 WHEREAS, She has been active in the Latinos Unidos, being
15 involved in a mentor program, helping children who are having
16 trouble in middle school; and
17 WHEREAS, A young person such as Maria Verona Garcia is
18 worthy of our highest praise; therefore, be it
19 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
20 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
21 acknowledge and applaud the work which Maria Verona Garcia
22 has accomplished and extend our sincere best wishes for her
23 future; and be it further
24 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
25 presented to Maria Verona Garcia.
