1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Bea Hicks is
3 going to be the Chief Operating Officer for Rail Operations
4 at the Washington Metropolitan Area Transportation Authority;
5 and
6 WHEREAS, She earned her Bachelor of Business Affairs from
7 Temple University and her Master of Business Administration
8 at the University of Pittsburgh; and
9 WHEREAS, She worked for International Business Machines
10 Corporation from 1968 until 1979; for Bell Telephone of
11 Pennsylvania from 1979 until 1981; for Southeastern
12 Pennsylvania Transportation Authority from 1981 until 1988;
13 and for the Chicago Transit Authority from 1988; and
14 WHEREAS, While at Chicago Transit Authority, she spent 10
15 years in transit management and she was in charge of
16 overseeing four different lines; and
17 WHEREAS, She was active in Women's Transportation
18 Seminar, a national organization for women in transit; she is
19 currently Vice President for the Chicago Chapter; and
20 WHEREAS, Her involvement as a woman in transit, which has
21 been a male-dominated industry, was highlighted in Passenger
22 Transport, a national transit magazine; and
23 WHEREAS, She has done volunteer work for The Lighthouse
24 and the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce's "We Care" Role
25 Model and Motivation Program; and
26 WHEREAS, Ms. Hicks is worthy of our highest praise;
27 therefore, be it
28 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
29 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
30 congratulate Bea Hicks on becoming the Chief Operating

1 Officer for Rail Operation at the Washington Metropolitan
2 Area Transportation Authority and extend our sincere best
3 wishes to her for the future; and be it further
4 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution should
5 be presented to Ms. Bea Hicks.
