1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The institution of marriage is one of the
3 cornerstones upon which our society is built, and a marriage
4 that has achieved a notable longevity is truly a model for
5 the people of the State of Illinois; and
6 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Mr. and Mrs.
7 Ralph O'Shea of Willow Springs are celebrating the fiftieth
8 anniversary of their marriage; and
9 WHEREAS, Ralph and Rose Mary were married at St. Sabina's
10 Church in Chicago, Illinois on April 24, 1948, and have
11 renewed their vows at St. Patricia's Church in Hickory Hills,
12 Illinois; and
13 WHEREAS, They are the loving parents of Rose Mary, Beth
14 Marie, and Mary Jane; the affectionate in-laws of Frank
15 Manella; and the proud grandparents of Damen, Nicollette,
16 Antoinette, and Dolores; and
17 WHEREAS, Ralph has had a rewarding career with the
18 Chicago Board of Education and is now involved with the VFW,
19 Knights of Columbus, Willow Springs Seniors Club, Local 143
20 Retired Engineers and Machinist Local 126; and
21 WHEREAS, Rose Mary has had a rewarding career as the
22 Village Clerk of Willow Springs and is currently the vice
23 president of the Lioness Club, involved in the Willow Springs
24 Historical Society, Willow Springs Seniors Club, and the
25 Municipal Clerks Association; and
26 WHEREAS, The respect of marriage reaches one of its
27 highest plateaus when a couple such as Ralph and Rose Mary
28 celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary; and
29 WHEREAS, They stand as examples of the best of our
30 society, and their love and devotion to each other and to

1 their family and friends serve as a reminder to all that hard
2 work, dedication, and love can make a difference in today's
3 world; therefore, be it
4 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
5 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
6 congratulate Ralph and Rose Mary O'Shea on the occasion of
7 their 50th wedding anniversary; that we commend them for
8 achieving a long and happy marriage, blessed with three
9 children and four grandchildren, and rich in friendships; and
10 that we wish them happiness and good health in the future;
11 and be it further
12 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13 presented to them as an expression of our respect and esteem.
