1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The Illinois House of Representatives is pleased
3 to recognize significant milestones in the lives of the
4 people of the State of Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, The Illinois House of Representatives and the
6 State of Illinois are honored to recognize the men from
7 Illinois who served in the U.S.N. Armed Guard and the U.S.
8 Merchant Marine; and
9 WHEREAS, The men who served in the U.S.N. Armed Guard and
10 U.S. Merchant Marines made it possible to deliver the war
11 goods, supplies, and extra troops to different locations all
12 over the world by their hard work, dedication, and devotion
13 to our country, their jobs, and crews; and
14 WHEREAS, The Illinois House of Representatives and the
15 State of Illinois salute the U.S.N. Armed Guard and U.S.
16 Merchant Marines who dedicated their lives to our country and
17 lived by the motto, "We aim to Deliver"; therefore, be it
18 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
19 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
20 salute the men who served in the U.S.N. Armed Guard and the
21 U.S. Merchant Marines; and with the loyalty and sacrifices
22 each of those men made, they were able to protect merchant
23 ships in convoys, transport troops, prisoners, food, guns,
24 ammunition, medical supplies, and mail to our troops; we
25 extend our sincere best wishes to the men who served in the
26 U.S.N. Armed Guard and the U.S. Merchant Marines and to their
27 families; and be it further
28 RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
29 presented to the men who served in the U.S.N. Armed Guards
30 and the U.S. Merchant Marines as an expression of our respect
31 and esteem.
