 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION
 2        WHEREAS, The City of Centralia, Illinois honors  many  of
 3    its  citizens  with  induction  into  its  Hall  of Fame; one
 4    inductee is John W. Clark; and
 5        WHEREAS, John W. Clark was born in Centralia, Illinois on
 6    May 29, 1920; in 1946 he married Jacqueline  Milz;  they  are
 7    the proud parents of Douglas and Scott; and
 8        WHEREAS,  In  1938,  John  Clark graduated from Centralia
 9    High School; he went on to  attend  college  at  Bradley  and
10    Centralia  Junior  College;  in 1941, John served as a Senior
11    Lieutenant with the U.S. Navy Air  Corps,  stationed  in  the
12    South  Pacific;  from  1946  to 1949, John was a partner in a
13    hardware store and sand  and  gravel  dredging  operation  in
14    Centralia;  in  1949  John  became a full time student at the
15    University of Missouri;  in  1951  John  became  a  Hydraulic
16    Engineer  with  the  U.S.  Geological  Survey,  Surface Water
17    Division, Rolla, Missouri, while continuing  his  studies  at
18    the  University  of  Missouri;  from 1953 to the present day,
19    John Clark has taught Civil Engineering at New  Mexico  State
20    University; and
21        WHEREAS,  John W. Clark received the Distinguished Flying
22    Cross  from  the  U.S.  Navy  in  1943;  he  was  named   the
23    Outstanding  Civil  Engineering Graduate at the University of
24    Missouri in 1951; and he was named Distinguished Professor at
25    New Mexico State University in 1963; therefore, be it
26        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES   OF   THE
27    NINETIETH  GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
28    salute John W. Clark on being named to the Centralia Hall  of
29    Fame; and be it further
30        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
31    presented to John W. Clark.
