1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, This Body wishes to recognize the service of
3 Dennis R. Bing as the County Clerk of Champaign County; and
4 WHEREAS, For twenty-six years, Dennis Bing has served the
5 citizens of Champaign County as their county clerk; Dennis
6 Bing began his career with Champaign County in December of
7 1970; during his time as County Clerk, Dennis saw many laws
8 passed that changed the management style of the County
9 Clerk's office, and successfully implemented those changes;
10 and
11 WHEREAS, Dennis Bing was born and raised in Duluth,
12 Minnesota; Dennis and his wife Martha have resided in
13 Champaign County since 1950; prior to becoming County Clerk,
14 Dennis was a Champaign County Board member and a Precinct
15 Committeeman; and
16 WHEREAS, Dennis Bing attended the University of
17 Washington; Dennis Bing served the United States Air Force
18 during the Korean War; at the end of his military career,
19 Dennis Bing served as an Aerodynamics and Electronics
20 Instructor and as School Administrator; and
21 WHEREAS, Dennis Bing has served as the President of Young
22 Republicans, the Illinois Association of County Clerks and
23 Recorders, and Zone III Illinois Association of County Clerks
24 and Recorders; he has also been active in various
25 organizations, including: National Association of County
26 Officials (NACO); International Association of Clerks,
27 Recorders, Election Officials and Treasurers (IACREOT);
28 Illinois State Board of Elections' Advisory Committee;
29 Illinois State Board of Elections' Ad Hoc Committee on
30 Election Consolidation; Governor's Bi-Partisan Committee for
31 Election Reform; Disabled American Veterans (Chapter #8);
32 Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Illinois (Urbana Lodge

1 No. 157 A.F. & A.M.); Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite
2 Valley of Danville Mohammed Temple A.A.O.N.M.S., Peoria
3 (Shrine); and Illini Shrine Club; in addition, Dennis Bing
4 was a Task Force member for Implementation of the National
5 Voter Registration Act (NVRA); and
6 WHEREAS, Dennis Bing retired from the position of
7 Champaign County Clerk in April of 1997; he will enjoy his
8 retirement along with his wife Martha; their children Tammy,
9 Sandra, and Dennis, Jr.; and their ten grandchildren;
10 therefore, be it
11 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
12 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
13 congratulate Dennis Bing as he retires as Champaign County
14 Clerk, along with offering our hopes for his future; and be
15 it further
16 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17 presented to Dennis Bing of Champaign, Illinois.
