1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The Village of Wilmette, Illinois will soon see
3 the retirement of Village President John Jacoby; and
4 WHEREAS, John Jacoby has served as Village Trustee from
5 1981 to 1989; from 1989 to 1997 he served as Village
6 President; and
7 WHEREAS, While serving as Village President, John Jacoby
8 has overseen many improvements and changes for the Village of
9 Wilmette including: a multi-million dollar sewer improvement
10 program; the resurfacing of Lake Avenue from Sheridan Road to
11 the western Village limits; acquiring the former
12 International House of Pancakes site and converting it into
13 an attractive public parking lot in the Village Center;
14 working with Carson's and their developer in achieving the
15 successful redevelopment of Edens Center; maintaining the
16 Village's sound financial condition and achieving a AAA bond
17 rating; holding increases in property taxes below the rate of
18 inflation while maintaining the high level of Village
19 services; and building a memorial at the Village Hall to
20 honor more than one hundred residents who died while serving
21 their country as members of the armed forces; therefore, be
22 it
23 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
24 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
25 commend John Jacoby for his years of service to the Village
26 of Wilmette, Illinois, and wish him continued good fortune
27 upon his retirement; and be it further
28 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
29 presented to John Jacoby of Wilmette, Illinois.
