          Amends the Juvenile Court Act of 1987.  Makes a stylistic
      change in Section relating to  the  maintenance  of  a  Court
      Services  Department  in  a county having more than 1,000,000
      inhabitants.

 1        AN ACT to  amend  the  Juvenile  Court  Act  of  1987  by
 2    changing Section 6-3.
 3        Be  it  enacted  by  the People of the State of Illinois,
 4    represented in the General Assembly:
 5        Section 5.  The Juvenile Court Act of 1987 is amended  by
 6    changing Section 6-3 as follows:
 7        (705 ILCS 405/6-3) (from Ch. 37, par. 806-3)
 8        Sec.  6-3.   Court  Services  Departments;  counties over
 9    1,000,000.  (1)  Any  county  having  more   than   1,000,000
10    inhabitants shall maintain a Court Services Department, which
11    shall  be  under  the  authority and supervision of the chief
12    judge of the circuit or of some other judge designated by him
13    or her.
14        (2)  The functions and duties of probation  personnel  of
15    the  Court  Services  Department include, but are not limited
16    to,  those  described  in  Section  6-1.  Neither  the  Court
17    Services Department nor any of its personnel  must  supervise
18    the  probation  of  any person over 18 years of age convicted
19    under the criminal laws, except that the court may order  the
20    Department  to  supervise the probation of an adult convicted
21    of the crime of contributing to the dependency and neglect of
22    children or of contributing to the delinquency of children.
23        (3)  The Court Services Department  in  any  such  county
24    shall  provide  psychiatric clinical services relating to the
25    purposes of this Act when so requested, authorized or ordered
26    by the court. The Department may be required by  the  circuit
27    court to render psychiatric clinical services to the court in
28    other matters as well as in proceedings under this Act.
