105 ILCS 230/5-50
Amends the School Construction Law. Provides that a
school district that has passed a referendum after January 1,
1996 for the issuance of bonds for school construction but
that has not yet issued the bonds remains eligible to receive
a grant entitlement from the State Board of Education for a
school construction project grant without resubmitting the
project or its financing to referendum. Effective
immediately.

1 AN ACT to amend the School Construction Law by changing
2 Section 5-50.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The School Construction Law is amended by
6 changing Section 5-50 as follows:
7 (105 ILCS 230/5-50)
8 Sec. 5-50. Referendum requirements. After the State
9 Board of Education has approved all or part of a district's
10 application and issued a grant entitlement for a school
11 construction project grant, the district shall submit the
12 project or the financing of the project to a referendum when
13 such referendum is required by law, provided that a district
14 that has passed a referendum after January 1, 1996, but that
15 has not yet issued the bonds authorized by the referendum may
16 receive a grant entitlement without re-submitting the project
17 or financing to referendum.

19 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
20 becoming law.
