 1                    AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 2171
 2        AMENDMENT NO.     .  Amend House Bill 2171,  on  page  1,
 3    lines  2  and  6,  by changing "Sections 3-4 and" wherever it
 4    appears to "Section"; and
 5    on page 1, by deleting lines 7 through 31; and
 6    by deleting all of page 2; and
 7    on  page  3,  by  replacing  lines  1  through  21  with  the
 8    following:
 9        "(705 ILCS 405/3-33) (from Ch. 37, par. 803-33)
10        Sec. 3-33.  Truant Minor in Need of Supervision.
11        (a)  Definition.  A  Any  minor  who  is  reported  by  a
12    regional  superintendent of schools, in a county of less than
13    2,000,000 inhabitants,  as  a  chronic  truant  (i)  to  whom
14    prevention,  diagnostic,  intervention  and remedial services
15    and alternative  programs  and  other  school  and  community
16    resources have been provided and have failed to result in the
17    cessation  of chronic truancy, or (ii) to whom such services,
18    programs and  resources  have  been  offered  and  have  been
19    refused,  shall  be  adjudged  a  truant  minor  in  need  of
20    supervision.
21        (a-1)  There  is  a rebuttable presumption that a chronic

 1    truant is a truant minor in need of supervision.
 2        (a-2)  There is  a  rebuttable  presumption  that  school
 3    records of a minor's attendance at school are authentic.
 4        (a-3)  For purposes of this Section, "chronic truant" has
 5    the  meaning  ascribed  to  it in Section 26-2a of the School
 6    Code."; and
 7    on  page  4,  by  replacing  lines  9  through  11  with  the
 8    following:
 9    "privilege suspended.
10        (c)  Orders entered under this Section may be enforced by
11    contempt proceedings.".
