Illinois Arts Council for fiscal year 1998. Effective July

1 AN ACT making appropriations.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 ARTICLE 7
5 Section 1. The following named sums, or so much thereof
6 as may be necessary, respectively, for the objects and
7 purposes hereinafter named, are appropriated to meet the
8 ordinary and contingent expenses of the Illinois Arts
9 Council:
10 Payable from the General Revenue Fund:
11 For Personal Services ........................ $ 1,008,600
12 For Employee Retirement Contributions
13 Paid by Employer ............................ 40,400
14 For State Contributions to State
15 Employees' Retirement Contributions ......... 51,800
16 For State Contributions to
17 Social Security ............................. 76,100
18 For Contractual Services ..................... 121,000
19 For Travel ................................... 24,300
20 For Commodities .............................. 10,000
21 For Printing ................................. 45,000

28 Section 2. The following named sums, or so much thereof

1 Arts Council to enhance the cultural environment in Illinois:
2 Payable from General Revenue Fund:
3 For Grants and Financial Assistance for
4 Arts Organizations .......................... $3,906,200
5 For Grants and Financial Assistance for
6 Special Constituencies ...................... 1,191,800
7 For Grants and Financial Assistance for
8 Arts Education .............................. 600,000
9 Total $5,698,000
10 Payable from Illinois Arts Council
11 Federal Grant Fund:
12 For Grants and Programs to Enhance
13 the Cultural Environment .................... $ 603,500
14 Section 3. The sum of $345,900, or so much thereof as
15 may be necessary, is appropriated from the General Revenue
16 Fund to the Illinois Arts Council for the purpose of funding
17 administrative and grant expenses associated with humanities
18 programs and related activities.
19 Section 4. The sum of $2,500,000, or so much thereof as
20 may be necessary, is appropriated from the General Revenue
21 Fund to the Illinois Arts Council for the purpose of
22 supporting the Chicago Symphony building renovations.
23 Section 5. The sum of $2,500,000, or so much thereof as
24 may be necessary, is appropriated from the General Revenue
25 Fund to the Illinois Arts Council for the purpose of
26 supporting the Lyric Opera building renovations.
27 Section 999. Effective date. This Act takes effect on
28 July 1, 1997.
