New Act
Creates the Endangering School Bus Transportation Act.
Provides that the offense of endangering school bus
transportation is committed when a person tampers with a
facility of school bus transportation with intent to cause
damage that would result in the creation of a substantial
risk of death or serious bodily injury, stops or boards a
school bus with the intent of committing a crime, knowingly
threatens a driver or passenger with death or imminent
serious bodily injury or with a deadly weapon or words or
actions intended to induce belief that the person is armed,
knowingly or recklessly causes bodily injury, or with
criminal negligence causes bodily injury by means of a deadly
weapon. Provides that the offense is a Class C misdemeanor.

1 AN ACT concerning school buses.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the
5 Endangering School Bus Transportation Act.
6 Section 5. Definition. In this Act, "school bus" has
7 the same meaning as it has in the Illinois Vehicle Code.
8 Section 10. Endangering school bus transportation. A
9 person commits the offense of endangering school bus
10 transportation if the person does any one or more of the
11 following:
12 (1) Tampers with a school bus or school bus facility
13 with intent to cause any damage, malfunction, or nonfunction.
14 (2) On a school bus knowingly threatens any driver or
15 passenger:
16 (A) with death or imminent bodily injury; or
17 (B) with a deadly weapon or with words or actions
18 intended to induce belief that the person is armed with a
19 deadly weapon.
20 Section 15. Sentence. Endangering school bus
21 transportation is a Class A misdemeanor.
