          Amends the Property Tax Code.  Makes a  technical  change
      in the Section concerning restrictions on extensions.

 1        AN ACT to amend the Mosquito Abatement District Act.
 2        Be  it  enacted  by  the People of the State of Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:
 4        Section  5.   The  Mosquito  Abatement  District  Act  is
 5    amended by creating Section 9.5 as follows:
 6        (70 ILCS 1005/9.5 new)
 7        Sec. 9.5.  Levy and collection of taxes by municipalities
 8    and  districts  for  mosquito  abatement   services.   If   a
 9    municipality  budgets  for  and  provides  mosquito abatement
10    services and levies, within its general tax levy,  a  tax  to
11    fund  those  services, and if the municipality lies wholly or
12    partially within a district that also levies a  district  tax
13    upon  territory  that  lies in both the affected municipality
14    and the district, then:
15             (1)  The affected  municipality  shall  pay  to  the
16        district  the  amount  collected by the municipality from
17        its levy upon territory that  lies  within  the  affected
18        district  that  is  also  levying  a  district tax on the
19        territory for the same type and quantity of services.
20             (2)  Whenever a district receives any  payment  from
21        any  municipality,  as  provided for in this Section, the
22        district shall reduce and abate the taxes levied  by  the
23        district  on  the  territory  that is subject to taxation
24        for the same type  and  quantity  of  mosquito  abatement
25        purposes  by  both  the  affected  municipality  and  the
26        district,  at  a  rate  that would reduce the taxes by an
27        amount equal to the amount received by the district.
28        Section 99.  Effective date.  This Act takes effect  upon
29    becoming law.
