Updating the database of the Illinois Compiled Statutes (ILCS) is an ongoing process. Recent laws may not yet be included in the ILCS database, but they are found on this site as Public Acts soon after they become law. For information concerning the relationship between statutes and Public Acts, refer to the Guide.
Because the statute database is maintained primarily for legislative drafting purposes, statutory changes are sometimes included in the statute database before they take effect. If the source note at the end of a Section of the statutes includes a Public Act that has not yet taken effect, the version of the law that is currently in effect may have already been removed from the database and you should refer to that Public Act to see the changes made to the current law.
(765 ILCS 1026/15-214) (This Section may contain text from a Public Act with a delayed effective date) Sec. 15-214. Funds owed to deceased State employees. After the death of an employee of a State agency, as defined in Section 1-7 of the Illinois State Auditing Act, any outstanding funds owed to the deceased employee shall be paid to the heirs of the deceased employee or the deceased employee's estate within one year of the employee's death in accordance with Section 14a of the State Finance Act. Upon expiration of the one year period, any funds remaining unpaid shall be reported and remitted to the administrator within 90 days. The administrator shall promptly provide notice to the employee's last known address under Section 15-503 of this Act.(Source: P.A. 104-116, eff. 1-1-26.) |
