Illinois Compiled Statutes (ILCS)

Updating the database of the Illinois Compiled Statutes (ILCS) is an ongoing process. Recent laws may not yet be included in the ILCS database, but they are found on this site as Public Acts soon after they become law. For information concerning the relationship between statutes and Public Acts, refer to the Guide.

Because the statute database is maintained primarily for legislative drafting purposes, statutory changes are sometimes included in the statute database before they take effect. If the source note at the end of a Section of the statutes includes a Public Act that has not yet taken effect, the version of the law that is currently in effect may have already been removed from the database and you should refer to that Public Act to see the changes made to the current law.

    Sec. 11. Certified pesticide applicators and private applicators. No person shall use or supervise the use of pesticides classified for restricted use without a license issued by the Director. Persons licensed or desiring to be licensed as certified pesticide applicators shall comply with the certification requirements as set forth in Section 9 of this Act in order to protect public health and the environment, including injury to the applicator or other persons using these pesticides.
    An applicant for certification as a private pesticide applicator shall meet qualification requirements prescribed by regulation. Certification shall be valid for the calendar year in which the certification is issued plus 2 additional calendar years, expiring on December 31st. The application for certification shall be made in writing to the Director, on forms available from the Director. For the years 2024 through 2025, the private pesticide applicator license fee shall be $60. For the year 2026 and for each year thereafter, the private pesticide applicator license fee shall be $90. A private pesticide applicator shall be assessed a fee of $5 for a duplicate license or license transfer. Such application shall include:
        A. The full name of the applicant.
        B. The mailing address of the applicant.
        C. The documents required as evidence of competence
    
and knowledge regarding the use of pesticides.
    The Director shall develop regulatory standards to ensure that certified private pesticide applicators continue to meet the requirements of a changing technology and assure a continued level of competence and ability.
