Illinois Compiled Statutes (ILCS)
Updating the database of the Illinois Compiled Statutes (ILCS) is an ongoing process. Recent laws may not yet be included in the ILCS database, but they are found on this site as Public Acts soon after they become law. For information concerning the relationship between statutes and Public Acts, refer to the Guide.
Because the statute database is maintained primarily for legislative drafting purposes, statutory changes are sometimes included in the statute database before they take effect. If the source note at the end of a Section of the statutes includes a Public Act that has not yet taken effect, the version of the law that is currently in effect may have already been removed from the database and you should refer to that Public Act to see the changes made to the current law.
(20 ILCS 3305/20) (from Ch. 127, par. 1070) Sec. 20. Oath. (b) The oath shall be administered before the Director of IEMA-OHS (or a designee authorized in writing by the Director), the coordinator of the respective emergency services and disaster agency, or persons authorized to administer oaths in this State pursuant to the Oaths an Affirmations Act. The oath may be administered through live video technology or other electronic means; however, the signed oath shall be filed with IEMA-OHS or with the emergency services and disaster agency with which the person shall serve and which oath shall be substantially as follows: "I, _______________, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend and bear true faith and allegiance to the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of Illinois, and the territory, institutions and facilities thereof, both public and private, against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties upon which I am about to enter.
