Updating the database of the Illinois Compiled Statutes (ILCS) is an ongoing process.
Recent laws may not yet be included in the ILCS database, but they are found on this site as
Public
Acts soon after they become law. For information concerning the relationship between statutes and Public Acts, refer to the
Guide.
Because the statute database is maintained primarily for legislative drafting purposes,
statutory changes are sometimes included in the statute database before they take effect.
If the source note at the end of a Section of the statutes includes a Public Act that has
not yet taken effect, the version of the law that is currently in effect may have already
been removed from the database and you should refer to that Public Act to see the changes
made to the current law.

Sec. 6.
Each year, the Governor is authorized and requested to designate
and take suitable public notice of White Cane Safety Day and to issue a
proclamation in which:
(a) he comments upon the significance of the white |

(b) he calls upon the citizens of the State to
|
| observe the provisions of the White Cane Law and to take precautions necessary to the safety of persons with disabilities;
|
|
(c) he reminds the citizens of the State of the
|
| policies with respect to the disabled herein declared and urges the citizens to cooperate in giving effect to them;
|
|
(d) he emphasizes the need of the citizens to be
|
| aware of the presence of disabled persons in the community and to keep safe and functional for the disabled the streets, highways, sidewalks, walkways, public buildings, public facilities, other public places, places of public accommodation, amusement and resort, and other places to which the public is invited, and to offer assistance to disabled persons upon appropriate occasions.
