Updating the database of the Illinois Compiled Statutes (ILCS) is an ongoing process. Recent laws may not yet be included in the ILCS database, but they are found on this site as Public Acts soon after they become law. For information concerning the relationship between statutes and Public Acts, refer to the Guide.

Because the statute database is maintained primarily for legislative drafting purposes, statutory changes are sometimes included in the statute database before they take effect. If the source note at the end of a Section of the statutes includes a Public Act that has not yet taken effect, the version of the law that is currently in effect may have already been removed from the database and you should refer to that Public Act to see the changes made to the current law.

Sec. 38.

Monetary award
program accountability.  The Illinois Student Assistance Commission is directed
to assess the educational persistence of monetary award program recipients.  An
assessment under this Section shall include an analysis of such factors as
undergraduate educational goals, chosen field of study, retention rates, and
expected time to complete a degree.  The assessment also shall include an
analysis of the academic success of monetary award program recipients through a
review of measures that are typically associated with academic success, such as
grade point average, satisfactory academic progress, and credit hours earned.
Each analysis should take into consideration student class level, dependency
types, and the type of higher education institution at which each monetary
award
program recipient is enrolled. The Illinois Community College Board and the Illinois Board of Higher Education are authorized and directed to share data with the Commission as needed to allow completion of the assessment.  The Commission shall report its findings to the
General Assembly and the Board of Higher Education by February 1, 1999 and at
least every 2 years thereafter.
