Information maintained by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Updating the database of the Illinois Compiled Statutes (ILCS) is an ongoing process. Recent laws may not yet be included in the ILCS database, but they are found on this site as Public Acts soon after they become law. For information concerning the relationship between statutes and Public Acts, refer to the Guide.

Because the statute database is maintained primarily for legislative drafting purposes, statutory changes are sometimes included in the statute database before they take effect. If the source note at the end of a Section of the statutes includes a Public Act that has not yet taken effect, the version of the law that is currently in effect may have already been removed from the database and you should refer to that Public Act to see the changes made to the current law.

30 ILCS 705/5

    (30 ILCS 705/5) (from Ch. 127, par. 2305)
Sec. 5. Time limit on expenditure of grant funds. Subject to the restriction of Section 35 of the State Finance Act, no grant funds may be made available for expenditure by a grantee for a period longer than 2 years, except where such grant funds are disbursed in reimbursement of costs previously incurred by the grantee and except as otherwise provided in subsection (d) of Section 5-200 of the School Construction Law and in subsection (b) of Section 80-45 of the Department of Human Services Act. Any grant funds not expended or legally obligated by the end of the grant agreement, or during the time limitation to grant fund expenditures set forth in this Section, must be returned to the grantor agency within 45 days, if the funds are not already on deposit with the grantor agency or the State Treasurer. Such returned funds shall be deposited into the fund from which the original grant disbursement to the grantee was made.
