SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

625 ILCS 5/12-610.5

Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Prohibits the sale of tinted glass or tinted plastic license plate covers. Effective immediately.

A BILL FOR

AN ACT concerning transportation.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by changing Section 12-610.5 as follows:

(625 ILCS 5/12-610.5)

Sec. 12-610.5. Tinted registration plate covers.

(a) It shall be unlawful to operate any motor vehicle that is equipped with tinted plastic or tinted glass registration plate covers.

(b) A violation of subsection (a) of this Section or a similar provision of a local ordinance shall be an offense against laws and ordinances regulating the movement of traffic.

(c) It is a violation of this Section for any person to knowingly sell or otherwise deliver to another person a tinted glass or a tinted plastic registration plate cover for use in violation of subsection (a) of this Section.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.
