 1        AN ACT concerning exotic weeds.

 2        Be it enacted by the People of  the  State  of  Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:

 4        Section  5.   The  Illinois Exotic Weed Act is amended by
 5    changing Section 3 as follows:

 6        (525 ILCS 10/3) (from Ch. 5, par. 933)
 7        Sec. 3.  Designated Exotic Weeds.   Japanese  honeysuckle
 8    (Lonicera   japonica),  multiflora  rose  (Rosa  multiflora),
 9    common  buckthorn  (Rhamnus  cathartica),  glossy   buckthorn
10    (Rhamnus  frangula),  saw-toothed buckthorn (Rhamnus arguta),
11    dahurian buckthorn  (Rhamnus  davurica),  Japanese  buckthorn
12    (Rhamnus  japonica),  and Chinese buckthorn (Rhamnus utilis),
13    and  purple  loosestrife  (Lythrum  salicaria)   are   hereby
14    designated  exotic  weeds.   Upon  petition  the  Director of
15    Natural Resources, by rule, shall  exempt  varieties  of  any
16    species  listed  in  this  Act  that  can  be demonstrated by
17    published or current research not to be  an  exotic  weed  as
18    defined in Section 2.
