SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Lawrence J. "Larry" Ontiveros of
4Moline, who passed away on October 25, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Larry Ontiveros was born to John and Josephine
6Rocha Ontiveros in Moline on January 21, 1943; he graduated
7from Moline Senior High School in 1962; he served in the U.S.
8Air Force; he attended Oregon State University; he married
9Linda Dietz on June 10, 1967; and
 
10    WHEREAS, After 30 years of service, Larry Ontiveros
11retired as a special investigator from John Deer Harvester on
12December 1, 1994; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Larry Ontiveros was the owner of Custom Build
14Wood Products; he had a passion for building furniture and
15cabinet work; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Larry Ontiveros was affectionately known as
17"Uncle Larry"; he was an active member of the Salem Lutheran
18Church, where he served as maintenance chairman; he was also
19an avid golfer and was a member of the Oakwood Country Club,
20where he served as board secretary, the Short Hills Country
21Club, and the Soangetaha Country Club; and

1    WHEREAS, Larry Ontiveros was preceded in death by his
2parents; his grandparents; his brother, Steve; his sister,
3Rita; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Cork and Betty
4Cervantes; his brother-in-law, Patrick Trevor; and his
5sister-in-law, Anita Dietz; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Larry Ontiveros is survived by his wife of 54
7years, Linda; his daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Gavin Jahn;
8his brothers, John (Laura), Bob (Blenda), Frank (Lorna), and
9Michael; his sisters, Christine (Jeff) Reem, Joanne (Ray)
10Bender, and Cindy (Dave) Newton; his sisters-in-law, Annette
11Dietz, Patricia Trevor, and Pamela Cervantes; and his numerous
12nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; therefore,
13be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16Lawrence J. "Larry" Ontiveros and extend our sincere
17condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
18him; and be it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Larry Ontiveros as an expression of
21our deepest sympathy.
