SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
New Act

    Creates the Armed Security Protection Act. Provides that for a period of 3 years beginning July 1, 2022, banks, pawn shops, grocery stores, and gas stations in municipalities having a population in excess of 2,000,000 inhabitants must employ and have on the premises at least one guard during the hours they conduct business with the public.

1    AN ACT concerning business.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the Armed
5Security Protection Act.
 
6    Section 5. Definitions. In this Act:
7    "Armed private security guard" or "guard" has the meaning
8ascribed to the term "armed employee" under the Private
9Detective, Private Alarm, Private Security, Fingerprint
10Vendor, and Locksmith Act of 2004.
11    "Bank" has the meaning ascribed to that term in the
12Illinois Banking Act.
13    "Gas station" means a business subject to the Motor Fuel
14Sales Act.
15    "Grocery store" means a business engaged in the sale of
16food, beverages and other goods usually used in a home.
17    "Pawn shop" means a business subject to the Pawnbroker
18Regulation Act.
 
19    Section 10. Guards required in municipalities having in
20excess of 2,000,000 inhabitants. A bank, gas station, grocery
21store, and pawn shop shall employ and have on its premises at
22least one guard during the hours it is conducting business

2    Section 15. Inoperability of Act. This Act is inoperable
3after June 30, 2025.
