SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Nancy Caroline Casteel King of
4Champaign, who passed away on June 3, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Nancy King was born to Lela May McGarvey and
6Myron Craig Casteel in Detroit on December 6, 1937; she was
7raised by her parents in Springfield; she earned her
8bachelor's degree in History and English from Millikin
9University in 1959, where she made lifelong friends as a
10member of Pi Beta Phi women's fraternity; she married Gene
11King; she earned her master's degree in Psychology and
12Guidance Counseling from the University of Illinois; after
13relocating to Champaign, she received her broker's designation
14from Parkland College; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Nancy King taught middle school in Rantoul; she
16later served as Dean of Girls in Lombard as well as a guidance
17counselor in La Grange; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Nancy King went on to have a long and successful
19career in real estate; she was a broker and owner of Landmark
20Real Estate; she was also a top producer with Devonshire
21Realty and Coldwell Banker; throughout her real estate career,
22she continued to use her educational background while

1explaining contract terms to clients, teaching real estate
2classes, and frequently mentoring new agents; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Nancy King was a longtime member of Faith United
4Methodist Church in Champaign, where she enjoyed fellowship
5and attending and teaching Bible study; she was also integral
6in establishing the church's columbarium, where she will
7interred; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Nancy King was an avid reader, artist, musician,
9cook, and gardening enthusiast; she loved traveling and took
10many great trips with family and her close group of friends;
11she also enjoyed having monthly lunches with her Red Hat
12Society; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Nancy Caroline Casteel King and extend our sincere condolences
16to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be
17it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Nancy King as an expression of our
20deepest sympathy.
