HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of former
4Illinois State Representative Charles F. Keller, who passed
5away on January 22, 2019; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Representative Keller was born to Loami and Thelma
7Keller on January 22, 1939; and
 
8    WHEREAS, The Keller family created many successful
9businesses in the City of Effingham, including Keller Oil and
10the Keller Development Company; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Like his father and mother before him,
12Representative Keller carried on his family's entrepreneurial
13spirit and started many new businesses, including the Thelma
14Keller Convention Center; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Representative Keller was President of the
16Illinois Young Democrats and actively campaigned for the
17election of President John F. Kennedy; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Representative Keller remained interested in
19politics and was ultimately elected to the Illinois House of
20Representatives; he was reelected for five consecutive terms;

2    WHEREAS, Friends and members of the community knew
3Representative Keller as a kind and generous man; along with
4his wife, he spent a year in war-torn Bosnia-Herzegovina, where
5he helped the local people; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Representative Keller and his family hosted
7German exchange student, Uwe Blab, who helped to lead the
8Effingham High School basketball team to second place at the
9state tournament in 1980; he then returned to Germany, where he
10played professional basketball; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Representative Keller retained his love of
12business throughout his life and founded the Hofbrauhaus German
13restaurant and brewery in his later years; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Representative Keller is survived by his wife,
15Doris Jean Keller, and their children; therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
17HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
18we mourn the passing of former Illinois State Representative
19Charles Keller and extend our sincere condolences to his
20family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
21further

1    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2presented to the family of Representative Keller as an
3expression of our deepest sympathy.
