SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Renee F. Buecker of Oak Park, who passed away on May 21, 2017, at the age of 88; and

WHEREAS, Renee Buecker was born in Frankfurt, Germany to Wolf and Blanka Frankel on January 25, 1929; at the age of 7, her family immigrated to the Hyde Park area of Chicago; she graduated from Hyde Park High School and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign; and

WHEREAS, Renee Buecker worked as a copy writer for Sears Roebuck in Chicago, where she met her husband, Robert E. Buecker; they were married in St. Louis, Missouri in 1952; they returned to Chicago, where they settled on the North Side; they moved to Oak Park in 1957; and

WHEREAS, Renee Buecker began teaching 1st grade at Paderewski School in the Lawndale neighborhood of Chicago, while taking care of her daughters; she returned to school and began a career in computer programming, where she remained until 1990; and

WHEREAS, Renee Buecker was a volunteer at the Chicago Lighthouse and the Field Museum of National History in Chicago; she was a lifelong liberal and supported many progressive causes; and

WHEREAS, Renee Buecker enjoyed traveling around the world with her husband and listening to music; her favorite artists were Johann Strauss and John Philip Sousa; and

WHEREAS, Renee Buecker was known by her family and friends to be loving, compassionate, and an active volunteer within her community; and

WHEREAS, Renee Buecker was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 57 years, Robert; and

WHEREAS, Renee Buecker is survived by her daughters, Janet (Ronald Martin) Buecker and Ellen Buecker (Jerry) Kott; her grandchildren, Megan (Justin DeVine), Hillary (Nick) Marshall, and Erin (William Pearce) Kott; her great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Jack Marshall; her sister, Ursula (Edward) Wittert; and her nephew and nieces, Bill (Donna) Wittert, Barbara (Keith) Apgar, and Susan (David) Kern; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Renee F. Buecker, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all that knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this solution be presented to the family of Renee Buecker as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
