| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Mildred Gieseke of Crystal Lake, who | 4 | | passed away on July 17, 2017; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Mildred Gieseke was born in Oak Park to Joseph E. | 6 | | and Marie (Blum) Smida on September 24, 1918; her family moved | 7 | | to Fox River Grove where she attended grade school and then | 8 | | graduated from Crystal Lake Community High School in 1936; she | 9 | | married Lester F. Gieseke in 1939; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Mildred Gieseke graduated from the Moser Beauty | 11 | | School and opened The Swirl & Curl Beauty Shop on the second | 12 | | floor of Gieseke's Department Store in Crystal Lake; she | 13 | | operated the beauty shop until late 1946; she and Lester worked | 14 | | together in Gieseke's until its fabric department was split off | 15 | | in the mid-1950s and she opened The Fabric Shop; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Mildred Gieseke was active in the Ambassadors and | 17 | | Service League; she enjoyed travel, painting, needlework, word | 18 | | search puzzles, water skiing, and fishing with friends and | 19 | | family on Crystal Lake; she also enjoyed spending time with her | 20 | | friend and care-giver, Jadwiga "JJ" Jaworska and the frequent | 21 | | visits from her longtime friend and business colleague, | 22 | | Christie Pfeiffer; her loving cat, Minky, was a source of joy |

| 2 | | WHEREAS, Mildred Gieseke was preceded in death by her | 3 | | parents and her husband, Lester; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Mildred Gieseke is survived by her daughters, | 5 | | Leslie (John) Bose and Lisa Sadlik; her grandchildren, Adam | 6 | | (Colleen) Sadlik and Kara (Eric) Martin; her | 7 | | great-granddaughter, Rocklyn; and her son-in-law, Gary Sadlik; | 8 | | therefore, be it
| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 10 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 11 | | Mildred Gieseke, and extend our sincere condolences to her | 12 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | 13 | | further
| 14 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 15 | | presented to the family of Mildred Gieseke as an expression of | 16 | | our deepest sympathy.
