| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Raul Ochoa Guzman, who passed away on | 4 | | December 6, 2018; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Raul Guzman was born in Elsa, Texas to Ediberto | 6 | | and Andrea Guzman in 1934; he met Amelia Lopez in Plainview, | 7 | | Texas, and they married in 1952; they moved from Texas to | 8 | | Chicago Heights, to Joliet, and finally Channahon, where they | 9 | | raised their family before retiring to a farm in Xenia; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Raul Guzman worked as many as three jobs at one | 11 | | time to support his family; he retired from Caterpillar in | 12 | | 1999; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Raul Guzman was involved in his community and was | 14 | | a member of the Texas National Guard and a volunteer | 15 | | firefighter; he built his home in Channahon and was always | 16 | | tinkering with something; after he retired, he kept busy on the | 17 | | farm, riding his yellow tractor and taking pride in his garden; | 18 | | he enjoyed watching Westerns and professional wrestling; he had | 19 | | a twinkle in his eye, a sly grin, and an infamous sweet tooth; | 20 | | he was the type of father who could make or fix anything; and
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Raul Guzman s survived by his wife of 66 years, |

| 1 | | Amelia; his children, Lionel Guzman, Arthur Guzman, Elida | 2 | | Chess, Marty (Mary Beth) Guzman, Matthew (Andrea) Guzman, Rita | 3 | | (Dan) McManus, and Lisa (Don) Brown; and his many | 4 | | grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and | 5 | | great-great-grandchildren; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Raul Guzman was preceded in death by his parents; | 7 | | his sister, Rafala (Guzman) Garcia; his brother, Rueben Guzman; | 8 | | his grandson, Matthew Aaron Guzman; and his granddaughter, | 9 | | Angelina Guzman; therefore, be it
| 10 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 11 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 12 | | Raul Ochoa Guzman and extend our sincere condolences to his | 13 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 14 | | further
