| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Clayton "Dave" Ayres of Woodstock, who | 4 | | passed away on December 26, 2017; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Dave Ayres was born in Madison, Wisconsin to Paul | 6 | | R. and Gertrude Ingrid (Haugen) Ayres on May 12, 1939; he | 7 | | married Judith Ann Cole On June 11, 1958 and served in the | 8 | | United States Navy for 20 years; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Dave Ayres spent 18 years with Illinois Tool Works | 10 | | as a human resources manager; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Dave Ayres was a member of the American Legion, | 12 | | the Lions Club, and the Tree of Life Unitarian Universalist | 13 | | Congregation in McHenry, where he served on several committees, | 14 | | including as chair of the Stewardship Committee, and | 15 | | spearheaded several church missions; every Thursday you could | 16 | | find him communing with his weekly men's breakfast group; and | 17 | | WHEREAS, Dave Ayres lived most of his youth in Wisconsin, | 18 | | including the towns of Madison, Beloit, Hayward, and Cable; he | 19 | | loved the outdoors and was an avid fly fisherman; his hobbies | 20 | | included photography, writing, fly-tying, solving Sudoku | 21 | | puzzles, designing and building A/V speaker enclosures, and |

| 1 | | woodworking; he enjoyed the occasional round of golf, bowling, | 2 | | and throwing darts; and | 3 | | WHEREAS, Dave Ayres and Judy spent a number of years in | 4 | | Minocqua, first as a second home and eventually as their | 5 | | primary; they enjoyed traveling, both locally and abroad; most | 6 | | recently they explored by car several national parks throughout | 7 | | the northern Rockies, toured Prague and Vienna, and cruised to | 8 | | Alaska; one of their favorite destinations was Las Vegas, where | 9 | | it was rumored Dave could be found frequenting his favorite | 10 | | craps tables; every spring they spent six weeks in Florida; and | 11 | | WHEREAS, Music was also a very important part of Dave | 12 | | Ayres's life; he listened to all genres of music and took an | 13 | | interest in playing instruments; and | 14 | | WHEREAS, Most important to Dave Ayres was his family; he | 15 | | was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and | 16 | | great-grandfather; he doted on his grandchildren and was always | 17 | | looking forward to his time with them; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Dave Ayres was preceded in death by his parents; | 19 | | and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Dave Ayres is survived by his wife of over 59 | 21 | | years, Judy; his children, Dean (Anne), Diana (Tyrone) Quinn, |

| 6 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 7 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 8 | | Clayton "Dave" Ayres, and extend our sincere condolences to his | 9 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 10 | | further
