| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Don Stephen Arnold of Bethalto, who | 4 | | passed away on September 26, 2017; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Don Arnold was born in Crab Orchard to Erma (Odom) | 6 | | Arnold and Clifford Arnold on March 19, 1946; he served in the | 7 | | United States Navy during the Vietnam era; he earned a degree | 8 | | in business and marketing from Southern Illinois University | 9 | | Carbondale; he married Joyce Simpson at the Bethalto Church of | 10 | | God on March 14, 1998; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Don Arnold worked as an operator with Shell Oil, | 12 | | now Conoco Phillips, for 30 years; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Don Arnold was a member of the Bethalto Church of | 14 | | God for 19 years, where he was also a lay minister; he was | 15 | | Minister of Visitation, coordinator of the Young at Heart | 16 | | Senior Group, an elder, and deacon; he was also involved with | 17 | | the Men's Ministry and taught a Sunday School class; he | 18 | | ministered at Sky Line Apartments and Hillcrest Apartments in | 19 | | Alton; he had a special interest in Project Aliyah, which helps | 20 | | Jewish people return to their homeland; over 15 years, he | 21 | | sponsored the return of 204 Jews to Israel; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Don Arnold was preceded in death by his parents; | 2 | | his brother, Darryl Arnold; and his sister, Linda Heltsley; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Don Arnold is survived by his wife, Joyce; his | 4 | | son, Clayton Arnold; his daughters, Olivia McCray and Sharma | 5 | | Halbert; his grandchildren, Larry McCray, Eleonore Grace | 6 | | Arnold, Zach Finegan, Kayleigh Finegan, and Brenna Halbert; his | 7 | | two stepchildren, his four step-grandchildren; and his | 8 | | sister-in-law, Bonnie Arnold; therefore, be it
| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 10 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 11 | | Don Stephen Arnold and extend our sincere condolences to his | 12 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 13 | | further
