| 1 | | SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION
| 2 | | WHEREAS, Officer James I. Brockmeyer was born in Chester to | 3 | | Donald and Dixie (Bowen)
Brockmeyer on April 30, 1994; he | 4 | | graduated from Chester High School in 2012, where he played | 5 | | football, basketball, and baseball; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Officer Brockmeyer worked for the City of Chester | 7 | | Gas Department and part-time for Derek's Lawn Service in | 8 | | Chester before joining the Chester Police Department; he was | 9 | | also a volunteer fireman for the Chester Fire Department; and | 10 | | WHEREAS, Officer Brockmeyer dedicated himself to public | 11 | | service, demonstrated by his service as a firefighter and by | 12 | | his commitment to the profession of law enforcement; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Officer Brockmeyer was a member of St. John | 14 | | Lutheran Church in Chester and the Randolph County Rod and
Gun | 15 | | Club; and | 16 | | WHEREAS, Officer Brockmeyer passed away on October 28, 2016 | 17 | | in the line of duty; and | 18 | | WHEREAS, Officer Brockmeyer served as a cherished member of | 19 | | the Chester Police and Fire Departments; he will be missed by | 20 | | his fellow firefighters and brothers and sisters in blue; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Officer Brockmeyer is survived by his parents; his | 2 | | sister, Megan Brockmeyer; his fiance, Lauren Hoops; his | 3 | | maternal grandmother, Joleen Bowen; and many aunts, uncles, | 4 | | cousins,
and friends; therefore, be it
| 5 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 6 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES | 7 | | CONCURRING HEREIN, that we designate Illinois Route 3 as it | 8 | | travels from State Street in Chester to Water Street as the | 9 | | "Officer James I. Brockmeyer Memorial Highway"; and be it | 10 | | further | 11 | | RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation
| 12 | | is requested to erect at suitable locations, consistent with
| 13 | | State and federal regulations, appropriate plaques or signs
| 14 | | giving notice of the name
"Officer James I. Brockmeyer Memorial | 15 | | Highway"; and be it further
| 16 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 17 | | presented to the family of Officer Brockmeyer, Chester Mayor | 18 | | Tom Page, and the Secretary of the Department of | 19 | | Transportation.
