HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, Computer Science Education is important in
3today's modern, digital society; and
 
4    WHEREAS, The computer science field is one of the
5fastest-growing and highest-paying career paths in the world;
6and
 
7    WHEREAS, Educating students in computer science is
8beneficial to all students, not just those interested in the
9computer science field; students must be proficient in using
10computers, whether it be to create a file, write a report, or
11research a certain subject, regardless of their field of
12interest; and
 
13    WHEREAS, With the digital age rising, there is a need to
14develop logical thinking and problem-solving skills, which are
15all part of the computer science curriculum; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Job openings requiring computer science skills
17are growing in every industry and in every state and are
18projected to grow at twice the rate of any other job; and
 
19    WHEREAS, With the current projected job growth related to
20computer science skills, computer science education has become

1a crucial tool to offer students from low-income families and
2communities, a pathway out of poverty in addition to becoming a
3source of innovation for society; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
5HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
6Illinois school districts are encouraged to teach computer
7science and coding.
