HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Scott Roger Marquardt of Winfield on the occasion of his 50th birthday; and

WHEREAS, Scott Marquardt was born on February 9, 1967 and has been a lifelong resident of DuPage County; he graduated from Glenbard East High School in 1985; and

WHEREAS, Scott Marquardt had an interest in financial markets and the impact it has on communities, and in 1989, he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Illinois, where he pledged and received full rights of the brotherhood of Sigma Chi Fraternity; and

WHEREAS, In 1992, Scott Marquardt earned his Juris Doctorate from the Illinois Institute of Technology Chicago-Kent College of Law, and was admitted to the Illinois Bar; and

WHEREAS, Scott Marquardt began his professional career as a public servant as an assistant in the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office and as a prosecutor in DuPage County until 1995; in 1996, he embarked on a career as a lobbying advocate for Illinois business and citizen interests, learning from his father, mentor, and best friend, the Hon. Roger C. Marquardt of Roger C. Marquardt & Company; the Marquardt Team quickly built and maintained a reputation in Illinois as hard-working, reliable, and trustworthy government affairs professionals who managed unmatched access and relationships with decision-makers, regardless of partisan political affiliation; and

WHEREAS, Upon the passing of the Hon. Roger C. Marquardt, Scott Marquardt assumed the role as President of the advocacy affairs business; he also serves as President of the distinguished and respected Marquardt & Belmonte P.C. Law Firm; and

WHEREAS, Scott Marquardt wed his beloved partner, Barbara Skurka, on December 20, 2002; and

WHEREAS, The Marquardt family has twice been given new meaning and purpose through the birth of their daughters, Julia Diane Marquardt on November 2, 2003, and Lauren Rachel Marquardt on October 18, 2005; and

WHEREAS, It is indisputable that Scott Marquardt is a loving son, brother, uncle, husband, and father; he is the trusted confidant and best friend to many, and has a heart of purity with a generosity and undiscriminating kindness; and

WHEREAS, Scott Marquardt serves his family, friends, and the Illinois State House community as a source for sincere decency and guidance; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we offer our gratitude, appreciation, and heartfelt wishes that Scott Roger Marquardt enjoys the celebration of his 50th anniversary of the date of his birth; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Scott Marquardt as our wish for many more years of good health and prosperity for the Marquardt family.
