SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Leroy E. Woolley of Colona, who passed away on December 21, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Leroy Woolley was born in Moline to Melvin and Irene Peters Woolley on June 5, 1932; he served in the United States Navy during the Korean War and married Jean Griffin at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Moline on February 7, 1953; and

WHEREAS, Leroy Woolley worked as a truck driver and retired from Dohrn Transfer; and

WHEREAS, Leroy Woolley was a member of the Rock River Rodders Car Club and the American Legion; he was an officer at the Moose Lodge in Geneseo; he enjoyed camping, fishing, and tinkering with old cars; he was an avid gardener; and

WHEREAS, Leroy Woolley was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Irene Woolley; his stepmother, Dolly Woolley; his sister, MaryAlice VanVooren; and his brother, Wayne Woolley; and

WHEREAS, Leroy Woolley is survived by his wife, Jean; his children, Cathy (Ken) DeBaille, Karen (Lanny) Edwards, and James (Joy) Woolley; his grandchildren, Amy (Jeremy) Merritt, Angie (Keith) Bradley, Annie (Matthew) Schlechter, Cory (Brent) Bogen, Nick Edwards, Tim Woolley, and Sarah Woolley; his great-grandchildren, Nolan and Gretta Bradley, Max Bogen, and one on the way, Baby Merritt, arriving in March of 2017; and his brothers, Melvin Woolley, and Bob (Pat) Woolley; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Leroy E. Woolley, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Leroy Woolley as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
