HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, On August 11, 1916, the State of Illinois incorporated the Rosecrance Memorial Home for Children, an organization that cared for neglected and dependent children in New Milford; and

WHEREAS, In an effort to expand the growing need for services, Rosecrance relocated to Rockford, where, in the first of many shifts to serve the changing needs of the community, it started serving youth with behavioral disorders; and

WHEREAS, Upon recognizing that teenagers were struggling with substance use, Rosecrance started a first of its kind chemical dependency treatment program in northern Illinois in 1982; the program began serving adults in 1992; and

WHEREAS, In 2011, Rosecrance recognized the importance of integrating addiction and mental health treatment by merging with the Janet Wattles Center; and

WHEREAS, Today, Rosecrance provides help, hope, and recovery to more than 22,000 children, adolescents, adults, and families each year at more than 40 locations in Illinois and Wisconsin; and

WHEREAS, Rosecrance is a leading national provider of behavioral health services and will offer the best opportunity for lasting recovery for many more years to come; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the employees and administration of Rosecrance on the occasion of the organization's 100th anniversary and wish them great success in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Rosecrance as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
