SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
510 ILCS 70/4  from Ch. 8, par. 704

    Amends the Humane Care for Animals Act. Provides that no person may sell, offer for sale, barter, or give away as a pet or novelty any hermit crab or goldfish which has been dyed, colored, or otherwise treated to impart an artificial color thereto. Provides that a violation of this provision is a Class B misdemeanor.

1    AN ACT concerning animals.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Humane Care for Animals Act is amended by
5changing Section 4 as follows:
 
6    (510 ILCS 70/4)  (from Ch. 8, par. 704)
7    Sec. 4. Prohibited acts. No person may sell, offer for
8sale, barter, or give away as a pet or a novelty any rabbit,
9hermit crab, goldfish, or any baby chick, duckling or other
10fowl which has been dyed, colored, or otherwise treated to
11impart an artificial color thereto. Baby chicks or ducklings
12shall not be sold, offered for sale, bartered, or given away as
13pets or novelties. Rabbits, ducklings or baby chicks shall not
14be awarded as prizes.
15    A person convicted of violating this Section is guilty of a
16Class B misdemeanor. A second or subsequent violation is a
17Class 4 felony, with every day that a violation continues
18constituting a separate offense.
