SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Joseph H. Whalen of Colchester, who
4passed away on December 22, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Joseph Whalen was born on July 29, 1921 in
6Colchester to Peter and Mary (nee Murphy) Whalen; he served his
7country in the United States Army in the South Pacific theater
8during World War II; he married Joan Yetter on November 4,
91949; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Joseph Whalen retired from farming; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Joseph Whalen was a member of St. Paul Church of
12Macomb, the Macomb American Legion, the Veteran's of Foreign
13Wars, and was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus;
14and
 
15    WHEREAS, Joseph Whalen was preceded in death by his wife,
16Joan; his parents; his sisters, Teresa Connor, Gertrude
17Pittenger, and Margaret Spangler; and his brothers, Bernard and
18John Whalen; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Joseph Whalen is survived by his daughters,
20Kathleen Whalen, Susie (Mike) Nichols, and Barbara Thompson;

1his sons, Bernard (Joan) Whalen and Patrick Whalen; his
2grandchildren, Joseph (Amanda) Nichols, Wesley Thompson, Brock
3(Kim) Thompson, Gracie Whalen, Kelly (Diana) Nichols, Tyler
4(Jessica) Nichols, Amanda Whalen, Caitlin Whalen, Ryne Caleb
5(Katie) Whalen, and Alex Whalen; his great-grandchildren, Ryne
6Caleb Whalen II, Carson Whalen, and Quin, Jace, Easton, Jalie,
7and Davis Nichols; and several nieces and nephews; therefore,
8be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Joseph H. Whalen, and extend our sincere condolences to his
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Joseph Whalen as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
