HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Veterans have served valiantly and honorably in defense of the United States and have put their lives on the line in order to defend America's beliefs and freedoms; and

WHEREAS, Veterans' Day is a National holiday held every year on November 11th and honors the people who have served as a part of any branch of the United States Armed Forces in defense of the United States of America, which allows the freedom and liberty we practice every day; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that in order to educate the students of Illinois about the sacrifices made for freedom on behalf of the country and the values on which this country was founded, we encourage each school year during the week in which Veterans' Day occurs, that all students in kindergarten through eighth grade attend an assembly during the school day to honor the history and importance of Veterans' Day; and be it further

RESOLVED, That school districts are encouraged to consult with local veterans' groups on the content of the assembly; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be delivered to the superintendent of each school district within the State.
