1     AN ACT concerning State government.

2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:

4     Section 5. The Secretary of State Act is amended by adding
5 Section 16 as follows:

6     (15 ILCS 305/16 new)
7     Sec. 16. Quarterly business report. The office of the
8 Secretary of State shall issue a quarterly report to the
9 General Assembly detailing the number of businesses registered
10 with the Secretary of State, the number of new businesses
11 incorporating or otherwise forming in Illinois, and the number
12 of businesses renewing registrations in Illinois by category,
13 including, but not limited to, limited and limited liability
14 partnerships, corporations, and limited liability companies.
15 The report shall include comparable data from the corresponding
16 quarter of the previous calendar year and shall reflect any
17 increases or decreases. The office of the Secretary of State
18 shall publish the report on its website.

19     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
20 becoming law.
