| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of James S. Tonyan of McHenry, who passed | 4 | | away on February 25, 2014; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, James Tonyan was born in Chicago on July 4, 1945 | 6 | | to Sylvester "Wes" and Elsie (nee Stebley) Tonyan; he graduated | 7 | | from McHenry High School in 1963 and from Marquette University | 8 | | in 1968 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration; | 9 | | he entered the United States Army as a 1st Lieutenant in 1969, | 10 | | and achieved the rank of Captain while serving 2 tours of duty | 11 | | in Vietnam; he married Laurie Mitchell on December 21, 1974 at | 12 | | the chapel of Monroe Hospital in Monroe, Wisconsin; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, After being discharged, James Tonyan returned | 14 | | home to work alongside his father at the family business, | 15 | | Tonyan Brothers; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, James Tonyan served 12 years on the McHenry | 17 | | Community High School Board of Education from 1974-1986, and | 18 | | held several offices during that time; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, James Tonyan enjoyed taking trips with his family | 20 | | and his good friend, Ed, who accompanied him to many Civil War | 21 | | memorial sites as well as the World War II site of the Normandy |

| 1 | | landing; and | 2 | | WHEREAS, James Tonyan was preceded in death by his parents, | 3 | | and by his sister, Audrey Regner; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, James Tonyan is survived by his wife of 39 years, | 5 | | Laurie; his children, Lindsay Tonyan and Wesley (Rebecca) | 6 | | Tonyan; his grandchildren, Makaelyn and Rylinn; his | 7 | | brothers-in-law, John Regner, Thomas (Jennifer) Mitchell, and | 8 | | Daniel Mitchell; his sister-in-law, Michele (Ted) Moore; his | 9 | | niece, Sara (Franz) Kuehnrich; his nephews, John Regner, Jr. | 10 | | and Daniel Lee Moore; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, | 11 | | Audria, Philip, William, Jacob, and Tea'; therefore, be it
| 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | 13 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 14 | | James S. Tonyan, and extend our sincere condolences to his | 15 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 16 | | further
