| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are deeply | 3 | | saddened to learn of the death of Robert A. "Bob" Kudlicki, Sr. | 4 | | of Hampshire, who passed away on October 1, 2012; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Bob Kudlicki was born in Muskegon, Michigan on | 6 | | October 10, 1928, to Sigmund and Cecelia (Grajewski) Kudlicki; | 7 | | he moved with his family to the north side of Chicago when he | 8 | | was 5 and attended St. Xavier Elementary School; he graduated | 9 | | from Lane Technical High School in 1946, and enlisted in the | 10 | | U.S. Marine Corps in August of 1946, taking basic training at | 11 | | Paris Island, North Carolina, before being stationed in | 12 | | Washington, D.C.; he was drafted back into the Marines in | 13 | | October 1950, for the Korean Conflict; he was Honorably | 14 | | Discharged in December of 1951 at the rank of Master Sergeant; | 15 | | he then returned to Chicago; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Bob Kudlicki met his future wife at a north side | 17 | | social club in 1952, and they began a 61 year relationship; he | 18 | | was united in marriage with Theresa Struke on August 8, 1953, | 19 | | at St. Marks Parish in Chicago; their first child, Robert Jr., | 20 | | was born in November of 1955, and their second, Michael, in | 21 | | April of 1959; and
| 22 | | WHEREAS, Bob Kudlicki and his family moved out of the city |

| 1 | | and to Pingree Grove; he worked for Hampshire Printing Company | 2 | | and the Hampshire Register; he purchased a franchise of the | 3 | | Illinois Cleaners in August of 1959, and he and Theresa worked | 4 | | to build up the business for the next 5 years; he and his | 5 | | family settled in Hampshire in October of 1964, and then | 6 | | purchased the Village Toggery in June of 1969; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Bob Kudlicki believed in giving back to his | 8 | | community through involvement with charitable organizations | 9 | | and in public service; he was a charter member and past | 10 | | president of the Hampshire Lions Club, a member of the | 11 | | Hampshire Chamber of Commerce, past commander and member of | 12 | | American Legion post #680, and past commander of the Elgin | 13 | | Marine Corps League Detachment; he was the current treasurer of | 14 | | Boy Scout Troop 22, and had been for over 35 years; he was the | 15 | | first member of the Hampshire Zoning Board, was elected Village | 16 | | President of Hampshire in 1976, was elected to the Kane County | 17 | | Board District 25 in 2002, was on the Executive Board of the | 18 | | Kane County Preserve District, and was a member of the Solid | 19 | | Waste Management and Administration Committees; and | 20 | | WHEREAS, Bob Kudlicki was preceded in death by his parents, | 21 | | Sigmund and Cecelia Kudlicki; his brothers, Sigmund Jr., | 22 | | Edward, Chester, Casimir, Jerry, and Richard; and his sisters, | 23 | | Florence and Bernice (Jean); and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Bob Kudlicki is survived by his wife, Theresa | 2 | | (Struke) Kudlicki; his sons, Robert Jr. (Margie) and Michael | 3 | | (Rita); his grandchildren, Karmen, Michael Jr., Jessica, and | 4 | | Robert III; his brother, Skip and his sisters, Isabelle, Wanda, | 5 | | and Angeline; therefore, be it
| 6 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | 7 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 8 | | Bob Kudlicki, and we extend our sincere condolences to his | 9 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 10 | | further
| 11 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 12 | | presented to the family of Bob Kudlicki as an expression of our | 13 | | sincere condolences.
