| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Nancy | 4 | | Marie Nozicka, who passed away on July 10, 2022; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Nancy Nozicka was born in Berwyn in 1958; she was | 6 | | raised in the nearby town of Cicero, where she lived until her | 7 | | early 20s; she graduated from Morton East High School, where | 8 | | she played badminton and volleyball; she later earned her | 9 | | undergraduate degree in Nursing from Loyola University | 10 | | Chicago; she married Charles "Chuck" Nozicka, and they enjoyed | 11 | | a 40-year marriage and raised four children; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Nancy Nozicka had a 38-year career in nursing at | 13 | | Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital, where she was a walking | 14 | | embodiment of patient-centered care; after decades of | 15 | | experience in the Emergency Department, she pursued her Master | 16 | | of Science to become an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse | 17 | | (APRN); she worked as a clinical nurse specialist in the | 18 | | Emergency Department, and she later pioneered the role as her | 19 | | hospital's first heart failure coordinator, a position she | 20 | | viewed as honoring the lived experiences of her beloved | 21 | | father; and
| 22 | | WHEREAS, Nancy Nozicka was an active member of St. |

| 1 | | Joseph's Catholic Church in Libertyville; she loved long walks | 2 | | in the mornings, improvised yard games in the afternoons, and | 3 | | evenings spent sharing good food and better stories at a table | 4 | | that always had enough seats for everyone; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Nancy Nozicka was a loving wife, mother, | 6 | | daughter, and grandmother who loved hard, laughed often, and | 7 | | dedicated her life to quiet acts of big impact for others; she | 8 | | will be remembered for her good humor, strong faith, optimism, | 9 | | and her humble way of anticipating the needs of others and | 10 | | putting all around her at ease; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Nancy Nozicka was preceded in death by her | 12 | | father, Edward Koscik; her mother-in-law, JoAnn Nozicka; and | 13 | | her cousin, Susan Rynne; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Nancy Nozicka is survived by her mother, Claire | 15 | | Koscik; her brother, Robert (Roni); her sister, Amy (Paul) | 16 | | Eberhardt; her husband, Charles Nozicka; her daughters, Nicole | 17 | | Gas (Kevin) and Laura Nozicka (Brian); her sons, Peter and | 18 | | Michael Nozicka; her grandchildren, Eddie, Alice, and Caroline | 19 | | Gas; and her numerous nephews, cousins, colleagues, mentees, | 20 | | and friends; therefore, be it
