| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Betty Jean Crews Capodice of Bloomington, | 4 | | who passed away on December 13, 2019; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Betty Capodice was born in Murphysboro to Harmon | 6 | | Kelly and Vera Barr Crews on September 5, 1930; she graduated | 7 | | from Kankakee High School in 1948, where she was an Illinois | 8 | | State Scholar, and from Illinois State Normal University in | 9 | | 1952 with a double major in mathematics and social studies; she | 10 | | married Jack Capodice in 1954; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Betty Capodice taught math in Columbus, Georgia | 12 | | while her husband was stationed at Fort Benning; she was a | 13 | | stay-at-home mother for 20 years and then became a substitute | 14 | | math teacher and later sold real estate; she helped with front | 15 | | office and accounting duties at M. Capodice & Sons, her | 16 | | husband's local wholesale produce company; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Betty Capodice was a gold status life master in | 18 | | duplicate bridge with over 3600 points and a member of the | 19 | | American Central Bridge League; hundreds of students took her | 20 | | bridge classes through Bloomington-Normal's adult education | 21 | | program; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Betty Capodice was preceded in death by her | 2 | | parents and her brother, Robert; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Betty Capodice is survived by her husband of 65 | 4 | | years, Jack; her children, Carol (Carl) Godbey, Teresa (Elmer) | 5 | | Heiney, Tina (Mark) Stratman, Jack (Joan) Capodice Jr., Mary | 6 | | (John) Gonzales, Jane (Mark) Frillici, Cece (Bob) Barnett, and | 7 | | Nick (Nori) Capodice; 18 grandchildren; and four | 8 | | great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 10 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 11 | | Betty Jean Crews Capodice and extend our sincere condolences to | 12 | | her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | 13 | | further
| 14 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 15 | | presented to the family of Betty Capodice as an expression of | 16 | | our deepest sympathy.
