| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Catherine "Kate" A. (nee Heffernan) | 4 | | Sklare of Joliet, who passed away on January 5, 2014; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Catherine Sklare was born on March 13, 1924 in | 6 | | Chicago to Mary and John Heffernan; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Affectionately know as Grandma "Cake", Catherine | 8 | | Sklare was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed playing Bingo | 9 | | and baking; she was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars | 10 | | #367 Auxiliary; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Catherine Sklare was preceded in death by by her | 12 | | husband, Henry W. Sklare; her parents; her siblings; her | 13 | | daughter-in-law, Brenda Sklare; and her son-in-law, David | 14 | | Allen, Sr.; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Catherine Sklare is survived by her children, | 16 | | Joyce (the late David, Sr.) Allen, Dr. John (Laura) Sklare, | 17 | | William (Barbara) Sklare, and Patricia (William) Dietz; her | 18 | | grandchildren, Christine (Richard) Hurley, David Allen, Jr., | 19 | | Joshua (Kelly) Sklare, Erin (Matthew) Harrell, Mary-Lynn | 20 | | Foster (George Krueger), Scott Dietz, and Andrew Dietz; her | 21 | | great-grandchildren, Kayla and Kourtney Thomas, Kaden Hurley, |
