| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of former Illinois legislator David J. | 4 | | Regner, who passed away on December 17, 2013; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, David Regner was born in Chicago to Joseph and | 6 | | Catherine (nee Schramm) Regner; he graduated from DePaul | 7 | | University with a Bachelor of Science in Commerce and served | 8 | | his country in the United States Army during the Korean | 9 | | Conflict; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, David Regner worked as an auditor and insurance | 11 | | broker and ran a consulting firm, Regner Enterprises Insurance; | 12 | | and | 13 | | WHEREAS, David Regner had a long history of civic | 14 | | involvement, including service as an auditor of Elk Grove | 15 | | Township and as the first Vice-President of the Cook County | 16 | | Auditors' Association; he also held local and State offices | 17 | | with the Jaycees; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, David Regner served as a Republican member of the | 19 | | Illinois House of Representatives from 1967 to 1972 and as a | 20 | | member of the Illinois State Senate from 1973-1980; he was also | 21 | | deputy committeeman for the Elk Grove Township Republican |

| 1 | | Organization and a member of the Platform Committee of the | 2 | | Illinois State Republican Committee in 1966, 1968, and 1970, | 3 | | serving as secretary in 1966; in 1980, he was a State campaign | 4 | | coordinator for presidential candidate Ronald Regan and | 5 | | Chairman of the Illinois Regan Delegate Committee; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, David Regner caught the political bug again and | 7 | | successfully ran for Palatine Township Supervisor in 1993, a | 8 | | post he held for 4 terms until 2005; and | 9 | | WHEREAS, David Regner was preceded in death by his first | 10 | | wife, Joan (nee Scanlan); his second wife, Joyce (nee LeFarie); | 11 | | his son, David Michael Regner; and his parents; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, David Regner is survived by his wife, Jo Ann | 13 | | Mullen-Regner; his grandchildren, Jennifer Ryder, David Jason | 14 | | Regner, Anna Gustafson, Nicole and Emma Walsh, and Zachary | 15 | | Stewart; his great-grandchildren, Ava, Nathan, Lily, and Wyatt | 16 | | Ryder; his sisters, Dorothy (Norman) Delphey, Barbara Regner, | 17 | | and Marie Smizinski; and his daughter-in-law, Donna Regner; | 18 | | therefore, be it
| 19 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | 20 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 21 | | former Illinois legislator David J. Regner, and extend our | 22 | | sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew |
