HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Gary Resh on receiving the 2024 First Citizen Award from The Danville Chapter of AMBUCS; and

WHEREAS, The Danville Chapter of AMBUCS has presented the First Citizen's Award to a member of the Danville Community to honor their volunteer service every year since 1932; and

WHEREAS, Gary Resh is the owner of Resh Frame Shop, where he creates beautifully crafted custom framing and woodcarving; and

WHEREAS, Gary Resh currently serves on the board of the DACC Foundation and as a volunteer hanging and framing items and exhibits for the Vermilion County War Museum; he is a past board member of the United Samaritans Medical Center Foundation, the Danville Public Library Foundation, where he served as president for three years, OSF, formerly known as Presence Medical Center, the Danville Art League, the Danville Symphony, the Danville Symphony Guild, the Red Mask Players, the Danville Area Arts Council, the Bi-Centennial Committee, and Arts in the Park, Inc.; and

WHEREAS, Gary Resh served as the co-chair of the annual Festival of Trees event for eight years, and he continues to be an active member, tree designer, and in charge of signage for the festival; and

WHEREAS, Gary Resh and his wife, Doris Resh, established a scholarship at Danville Area Community College for students studying business; and

WHEREAS, Gary Resh has donated over 30 personally crocheted blankets to the OSF Bobbette Steely Hegeler Cancer Care Center for patients undergoing chemotherapy; and

WHEREAS, Gary Resh's selfless, compassionate, generous, thoughtful, and genuine nature exemplifies what it means to be a First Citizen by choosing to make a positive impact within the Danville community; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we wish to congratulate Gary Resh on receiving the 2024 First Citizen Award from The Danville Chapter of AMBUCS; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Gary Resh as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
