| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 |
| learn of the death of
Sandra Blount, who passed away on June | 4 |
| 22, 2008; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Sandra Blount was born on June 7, 1941; her | 6 |
| parents were Clayton and Eleanor Tidwell; and
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, Sandra Blount was employed with the City of | 8 |
| Chicago for nearly 4 decades; she began her career as a public | 9 |
| servant on April 19, 1965 in a clerical position; she steadily | 10 |
| moved through the ranks and had become Assistant Director of | 11 |
| Personnel of the Chicago Department of Human Services, | 12 |
| remaining there until her retirement on May 1, 2004; she was | 13 |
| described by her co-workers as an ambitious, faithful, and | 14 |
| trustworthy executive with exceptional leadership skills; and
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, Sandra Blount was preceded in death by her | 16 |
| parents; and
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, Sandra Blount is survived by her daughter, Sonya; | 18 |
| her son-in-law, Chicago Police Officer Anthony Walker; her | 19 |
| grandchildren, Anthony Walker Jr. and Symone; and her siblings, | 20 |
| Mrs. Syvilla Woods and Jacqueline; and

| WHEREAS, Sandra Blount will be remembered by all who knew | 2 |
| and loved her as a people person who was sensitive and very | 3 |
| understanding and as a knowledgeable, articulate, | 4 |
| professional, religious, and dignified woman who was never too | 5 |
| busy to help people with their problems; therefore, be it
| 6 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL | 7 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 8 |
| her family and friends, the passing of Sandra Blount; and be it | 9 |
| further
| 10 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 11 |
| presented to the family of Sandra Blount as an expression of | 12 |
| our sympathy.
